Jamie Fant, born April 15, 1958 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Wilton and Sylvene Fant, passed away April 10, 2019 in Troy, Ohio. Jamie was baptized into Christ at Residence Park Church of Christ in 1981 and loved serving the Lord and his fellow mankind in various capacities. Jamie's education included Sandusky High School and Wilmington College.
After serving in the U. S. Marine Corps, he moved to Dayton, Ohio where he held several jobs including Jefferson Township police officer, and Merchant Security. He retired from the Lebanon Correctional Institution as a Corrections Officer and Union Steward.
Jamie was very active with several unions including the Ohio/AFSCME Retiree Chapter 1184 (president). He was a great supporter of just causes and fair treatment for workers. Jamie was very fond of electronics (including his ever-present cell phone) automobiles, oldies music, and driving. He was present on Facebook where he encouraged many to vote, have a voice and be a better version of themselves.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Jacqueline Jeanne; son, Jamie Moore. He is survived by his daughter, Chanessa of Atlanta, GA; brothers, John (Jennette) of Gilbert, AZ, Donald and Roy of Sandusky, OH; sisters, Birdie Mae Heidelburg of Cincinnati, OH and Terrie (Morris) Bowens of Trotwood, OH; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation 5-8 pm Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the funeral home.
