Hermie Rowan

ROWAN, Hermie Alfred “Little Brother”, born February 24, 1933 in Port Gibson, Mississippi, peacefully entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 16, 2019.

Hermie retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. After retiring, he dedicated his life to the service of family and friends. He enjoyed visiting the sick and shut-in and cooking. Hermie had a generous spirit, one of humility and helping others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Mary Rowan; wife, Aileen Rowan; siblings, Leroy, Thelma, Lillian, Bernard, Essie, Oliver, and Josie.

He leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Henri Ruth; son, Herman (Dorothy) Morgan; daughters, Theresa, Karen (Andre) Pogue, Tasha, Hermietta and Marquetta; grandchildren, Shannon Burton, Sean (Chelsea) Moreland, Cameron, Chaz, Sidney, Joshua and Ollie. He enjoyed and cherished a special relationship with “Neph” Leroy Armstrong and cherished all of the friendships that he had.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, March 25, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 9 am at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Woodland Cemetery.
