Gordon E. Chavis

CHAVIS, Gordon E., age 72, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 23, 2018. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1964 and attended Bowling Green University. Gordon retired from Montgomery County Solid Waste. He was a long-time member of Harris Memorial C.M.E. Church. He was a past member of Amer Temple #107, member and past Master of Unity Lodge #115, 33˚ Scottish Rite Mason and member of Miami Consistory #26. Preceded in death by mother, Wertie Brinson; grandmother, Cassie Hayes; uncles, Milton and Bryant Taylor. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Juanita Chavis; brother, Gary Chavis; son, Darryl (Jackie) Johnson; grandchildren, Darryl and Tiffany Johnson; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service 11 am Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Harris Memorial C.M.E. Church, 3950 Haney Rd. Visitation 9-10:30 am. Family will receive friends 9:30-10:30 am. Masonic Blue House service 10:30 am. Interment West Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
