Elsie Paschal Obituary

PASCHAL, Elsie M. Danley, transitioned from Earth to Heaven March 8, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Elsie Mae Danley Paschal was born January 19, 1938 in Carrollton, Georgia to Raymond Sr. and Dovie Mae Daniel Danley. The family relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1948. Elsie was a 1956 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. She attended Sinclair Community College.  She was employed by McCall’s Publishing Company and Huffy Corporation where she served as Customer Service Manager. Elsie retired from Huffy Corporation in 2000. Elsie was a faithful member of Corinthian Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was actively involved until her illness.

She served as President of the usher board and prepared candidates for baptism. Elsie was a member of the Senior Saints Ministry. Elsie loved her family, friends and community. She was a long-time member of the Nightingales Social Club. This club was established at the former Summit YMCA to encourage young ladies to get involved in positive activities within the community. Elsie was a dedicated member of the National Council of Negro Women and a member of the Lifetime Guild. In 2004, she was honored as Woman of the Year by the American Business Women Association. In 1959, Elsie was married to the late Eugene Culbreth and to that union one daughter, Michelle, was born. In 1968, Elsie married the late Carter Paschal.

Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Danley Sr. and Dovie Mae Alexander; brothers, Laymond Danley and Raymond Danley Jr.; sister, Bernice Hugee and her husband, Carter Paschal. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy her son, James Marcus Culbreth of Dayton; daughters, BreNita Danley Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia and  Michelle Y. Matthews of  Dayton; grandchildren, Aaron Culbreth, Rian Culbreth and Stephanie(Andre) Bollinger of Columbus, Ohio, Tiffani Brown, Justin Brown (Raven) and Briona Brown of Atlanta, Georgia,  Tiffanie Matthews Tubbs (Correy),  Shanta Anderson of Dayton, Ohio, Sean Matthews of Mesa, Arizona, Kennon and Chavar Smith of Dayton; great grandchildren, Tyler Page, Cameron Lawson, Carissa Pogue, Adrianne, Andre Jr and Asher Brown; special nieces, Teresa Gentry (Andrew) and Tammy Hugee of Dayton; special cousin, Dorothy Sparks of Winston, Georgia; sister-in-law, Christine Danley of Atlanta, Georgia; best friend, Alice Ditto; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Corinthian Baptist Church, 700 S. James H. McGee Blvd. Rev. P.E. Henderson officiating. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment West Memory Gardens.
