Ella B. Moore

MOORE, Ella B., age 90, received her Heavenly Wings Monday, March 12, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital. A native of Homer, Louisiana, born July 17, 1927, the first daughter of the late Ben and Ella (Ferrell) Foster. “Grandma”, as she was affectionately known, was faithful, loyal, loving and dedicated to every one she touched. Ella retired from Moore’s Day Care Center, that she and her husband owned and operated for over 37 years. Ella was a pioneer of the Day Care Industry, she loved children and they loved her. She was a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the late Rev. J. Welby Broaddus and Rev. Dr. Donald W. Thompson Jr., where she served as a faithful member of The Mother’s Board. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, Olen R. Moore; sons, Dennis Ray, Larry Bruce and Daryl Foster Moore; grandson, Michael T. Moore; nephews, Demetrious H. Rush, Briscko Dozier Jr. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, loving and devoted sons, Olen T. (Carolyn ) Moore of Dayton, and James P. (Antonella) Moore of Sardinia, Italy; daughter-in-law, Loretta H. Moore of Atlanta, GA; sister, Bennie R. Smart of Dayton; sisters-in-law, Mary Moore of Dayton, Doylee Pickens of Muskegon, MI and Claudia (James) Myers of Chicago, IL; Goddaughter and Faithful Care Provider, Helen L. Harris, of Dayton; Goddaughter, Armeater Boatwright of Atlanta, GA; special nieces, Yvonne (Daroyl) Goodman and Patricia Moore Anderson; special nephew, Otis Moore Jr.; devoted granddaughter, Deanna Y. (Jamey Sr.) Maddox; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends. Homegoing Celebration will be held 11 am Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 380 S. Broadway St. Rev. Dr. Tokunbo Adelekan officiating. Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
