I was stationed with Edward Hawkins Jr at Scott AFB, Illinois in the 1968-1972 time frame. I have been searching for him to rekindle friendship. The photo in the obituary sure looks like the Ed Hawkins I knew. If you see this message, and can confirm that he was at Scott AFB in that time frame, I'd sure like to hear from you.
