Dorothy Ella Hand

Dorothy Ella Hand, 97, of Dayton, Ohio, child of God, devoted wife, and mother, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at St. Leonard’s Nursing facility. A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, she moved to Greenville, Ohio as a child, and spent her adult life in Dayton. She was employed by the Metropolitan Clothing Company for 19 years.

Preceded in death by parents, Samuel and Margaret Jett; husband, Harold Hand; son, Warren Hand; sisters, Fannie DeJarnette, Faircie Clark, Ethel Thompson, Ruby Kendrick, Viola Beasley, and Juanita Payne.

Survivors include sister, Roberta Embry of Dayton; brother, James Jett of Greenville, Ohio; children, Gerald Hand of Dayton, Sharon Harrison of Silver Spring, MD, Karen (Nino) Vuicic of Westerville, OH, and Bruce Hand (Teri) of Beavercreek, OH; grandchildren, Byron Hand, Michael Hand, Kriston Alford McIntosh (Martin), Bianca Hand, and Dr. Britney Alford; special and devoted niece, Phyllis Payne; great grandchildren, Ja’kye Marquis Hand, and Mackenzie Grace McIntosh; a host of special people, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 380 S. Broadway St. Rev. Melvin Jackson officiating. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment West Memory Gardens.
