Derrick Finley, age 57, a lifelong resident of Dayton, born April 17, 1961 to the late Linda Cameron and June Spells, departed this life April 3, 2019 at Crossroads Nursing Home. Derrick was raised and cared for by his mother, and stepfather, Carl Cameron Sr. He attended Dunbar High School. Derrick is remembered by his family as a very happy, caring, and loving individual. He was a helpful person that was always willing to lend a helping hand to help out his family and friends. He liked playing cards, dominoes, backgammon, many sports and watching Kung Fu movies; but most of all he was a loving father that enjoyed spending time with his children.
Derrick is preceded in death by his brother, Keith Finley. He leaves to cherish his memory his stepfather, Carl Cameron Sr.; sons, Derrick Finley Jr., Justin Dunn, Jermain (Kathryn) Finley, Jordan (Jasmine) Dunn, Darius Finley; daughters, Jacquelyn Finley and Sharnetta Finley; sister, Tammy Finley; brothers, Carl Cameron and Bryon Grey; 15 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and his favorite cousin, Rodney Vaughn.
Funeral service will be held 1 pm Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Visitation 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
