Dean Lovelace

LOVELACE, Dean, 71, born January 31, 1946 in Ford City, PA to John and Edna Lovelace, passed Sunday, May 28, 2017. Dean was a graduate of Jefferson High School, Sinclair Community College, University of Dayton, and Wright State University; he also attended courses at Central State University. He retired from the University of Dayton as the Director of Civic Scholars after 25 years of service. He was also elected to 6 terms as Dayton City Commissioner making him the longest City Commissioner to serve in the City of Dayton with 22 years of service. Dean is survived by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Lovelace; sisters:  twin sister, Dale Lovelace “Aunt Kandy” and Janice Lee; half brothers and sisters, Richard, John Derrick, Barry, Andrea and Cheryl; daughters, Leslie and Laeina; son, Dean Nyerere (Sesyli); grandchildren, Alexis, Jaden, Aubrey, Lincoln, Levi and Londyn; a host of wonderful nieces and nephews. Visitation 4-8 pm Monday, June 5, 2017 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm. Funeral service 11 am Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Corinthian Baptist Church, 700 S. James H. McGee Blvd. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations are sent to Wesley Community Center (in Honor of Dean Lovelace), 3730 Delphos Ave, Dayton, OH 45417.
