Clara McClellan Obituary

Clara Marie McClellan, born December 8, 1941 in Bessemer, Alabama, was suddenly called from earthly labor to heavenly reward Monday morning, October 28, 2019. She graduated from Dunbar High School in Bessemer. She went on to Alabama A & M University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1965. This was an exciting year for Clara because she also married Clifford Hall on October 15, 1966. They later moved to Dayton, Ohio where she furthered her education at the University of Dayton. In 1984, Clara’s educational pursuit yielded a Masters of Education degree. The union of Clara and Clifford produced a cuddly and beloved daughter, Candace Hall.

Clara became an educator in the Dayton Public School System. She taught at Roosevelt High School, Colonel White High School and finally Stivers Middle School until the time of her retirement. During those years, Clara was a member of the Dayton Education Association (DEA).

In later years, Clara remarried. Her new husband was James McClellan, Sr. They shared two sons, James Jr. and Jason.

All can fondly recall Clara’s gift for gab and love for shopping. Her generous spirit was evident in the close bonds she formed with friends and family.

Clara was a loving wife, mother and friend. She had a healthy love for the Lord and embraced her church family at Agape’ Fellowship Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Lena Mae Bell.

Those who remain to cherish her memories include her loving daughter, Candace, and son, Jason; cherished sister, Ann McCaskey; a host of other family and friends.
