Azelean E. Hopkins

HOPKINS, Ms. Azelean E. “Jean”, born December 23, 1938 in Benham, KY, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, departed this life August 2, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. Jean grew up in Benham, KY, but relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1964. She was a graduate of Benham High School, Sinclair Community College and the University of Dayton, majoring in Secondary Education and minoring in Business. She retired from the Dayton Urban League and Value City Clothing Store.

Preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Kidd Vestal; brother-in-law, Donald (Doris) Hopkins; grandmother, uncle and aunts. She is survived by her children, Adoria Kidd, Angelo (Kim) and Anthony (Roslyn) Hopkins, Aurelia (Roland) Slade, Anastasia McGee, Alex, Alfredo and Jareje Hopkins, Gary and Kathy Thigpin; special son-in-law, Walter McGee; sisters, Julie A. and Angel Vestal; brother, Steven (Tami) Vestal; grandchildren, Masito and Dante’ Kidd, Anthony and Angelo Purnell Hopkins, Chantina Jones, Cierra and Chyanne Hopkins, Lakeshia, Myisha and Rolisha Slade, Minyota McGee, Anastacia, Christopher, Shaun, Shaquan Hopkins, and Dantio Hopkins; special relationship with the Stokes and Brice Sims families; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, August 10, 2018 at Agape Bible Fellowship Church, 2560 N. Main St. Rev. John H. Mays officiating. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment West Memory Gardens.
