Willie Curtis Griffin, Sr.

GRIFFIN, Sr., Deacon Willie Curtis, born January 17, 1930 in Hulls, Alabama, departed this life Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Hospice of Dayton. Preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Sally Griffin; one sister, six brothers and one grandson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Mary M. Griffin; sons, Willie Curtis Griffin Jr., Alvonias “Buck” Griffin, Sr., Edward “Eddie” Griffin; daughters, Mary Etta Gladney, Vendola Lawrence, Sally D. Johnson; grandchildren, Jamel E. Lawrence, Tamika R. Lawrence, Vendola M. Lawrence, Mya J. Abrams, and Antonia M. Griffin; great grandchildren, Daylin M. White and Maxwell J. Lawrence; a host of other relatives and friends. Celebration of Deacon Griffin’s life will be held 1 pm Friday, May 12, 2017 at United Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Lexington Ave. Rev. Dr. Leroy Cothran officiating. Visitation 10 am Friday at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave.
