Virginia Lee Kilgore

Virginia Lee Kilgore, 77, took her heavenly wings on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Friendship Village, Dayton, Ohio. She was born July 13, 1940 in Newbern, Alabama to the late Mary L. Hicks-Nevels and Andrew Nevels, Sr. Virginia was married to the late Clifford Kilgore for 31 years. She was blessed to live a full and enjoyable life as a mother, traveling with her husband, gardening and spending time with family and friends. A business woman, Ginny graduated from Wilmington High School and was a State of Ohio Licensed Cosmetologist and had her own hair salon. She also owned several rental properties in her community and managed her properties until her illness precluded her from those duties. She was a faithful member of Quinn Chapel AME Church. Her infectious smile, her sense of humor, her generosity, her compassionate ear and her wisdom will be missed by all who loved her.

She is preceded in death by her son, Delbert Turner, Jr.; brother, Andrew Nevels, Jr. and sister, Mary Fitzgerald. She is survived by a loving family which includes, her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Veronica Nevels of Dayton, Samuel and Judy Nevels of Wilmington, Ed Nevels of Wilmington, Leautry Nevels of Wilmington, and Al and Ruby Nevels of Cleveland; nephews, Robert (Gail) Nevels of Cleveland, Lorenzo Nevels of Cleveland, Alan Nevels of Washington D.C., Sam Nevcls, Jr. of Wilmington, Jason Nevels of Washington Courthouse; nieces, Jodi Patterson (Vaughn) of Cincinnati, Rev. Ashley Onyia of Dayton, Chelsea (Daryl) Elliott of Columbus, Brooke Onyia, Dayton, Danielle Onyia, Dayton, Cindy Nevels of Washington D.C, Stephanie Nevels of Wilmington and a host of other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church, 50 Lincoln St., Wilmington, OH. Rev. Phillip Turner officiating. Visitation 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Family will receive friends 12:00-1:00 p.m. Interment Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
