Mrs. Susie Mae Harris, born June 17, 1935 in Arkansas City, Arkansas to the late Eddie Lee and Alsestia Berry, transitioned this life to be with the Lord Saturday, March 31, 2018. Susie was affectionately called “Tutter” by her family and friends. She and her husband, Robert, were the proud owners of a local grocery store in Memphis, Tennessee. In her early years, Susie enjoyed dancing. Prior to her passing, she had a love for shopping and an even greater love for sweets. Susie dedicated much of her time caring for Cameron, William, Bella, Malachi and AJ – little ones close to her heart. Upon relocation from Memphis, Susie immediately found her church home at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her daughter, Shelly, and her sisters, Ida Mae Berry and Dorothy Lee Jones. She is survived by her sisters, Ruby Vinsang, Beaulah (Lewis) Jackson, Eddie Mae (Jerry) Reed, and Jeannette Lee; grandchildren, LeQuentin Johnson and Rodney Newson; great grandchildren, Isaiah Johnson, Jania Winfrey and Rodney Newson III; special nieces, Mary (Ronnie) Bruce, Teresa (Aaron) Watts and caregiver, Jaycee Wade; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Home-going service will be held 12 noon Monday, April 9, 2018 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 380 S. Broadway Street. Rev. Dr. Tokunbo Adelekan officiating. Visitation 9 am at the church until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
