Lillet Hamilton

March 12, 1926 ~ January 1, 2018 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Lillet Hamilton, 91, born March 12, 1926 in Junior Pen, St. Mary, Jamaica to Melbourne and Mabel Johnson, entered into rest Monday, January 1, 2018 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.

The first of seven children, she was always an encourager, a source of strength to all her siblings.

Ms. Hamilton spent her early childhood years growing up in Reddington and Long Road, St. Mary. After completing school, she resided in Linstead, St. Catherine, Jamaica. There she met her husband Vernon and made Linstead Seventh-Day Adventist Church her church home, serving in various capacities and a strong support in her husband’s dental practice.

With the immigrant push and pull factors held out in the American dream of opportunities, Ms. Hamilton soon emigrated to the United States, arriving in Cleveland, Ohio in 1968 then followed by her husband. They changed career, resided in Dayton, became active members of Ethan Temple Seventh-Day Adventist Church; she worked faithfully at Kettering Hospital up to her retirement.

During her tenure at Ethan Temple, she was a shining example of excellence, an encourager and a spiritual bulwark, committed to a life of service. She was a hard worker with an untiring devotion to God, her family, church, and friends. At Ethan Temple she served as a member of the choir, deaconess and recently awarded Honorary Deaconess; served in the Personal Ministry Department as a Bible worker; and with Ms. Gilmore visited residents in nursing homes and senior citizen centers and brought comfort to the residents. Ms. Hamilton was a dependable volunteer during evangelism outreaches of her church.

Ms. Hamilton loved her church family and the fellowship of the members. She was always willing to stretch herself, outreaching and sharing the message of God’s love to as many as she met. And with her prayer life, she radiated the love of God in her heart towards families and friends, and reminding them that they were in her thoughts and prayers always.

Her church family who served with her referred to her mission outreach activities to be one of hope in sharing the love of God always and looking forward to the great reunification at the second coming of Christ.

Preceded in death by her father and mother; husband, Vernon; brothers, Percival and Nehemiah. She is survived by her sister, Edna Campbell of Port Charlotte, FL; brothers, Vincent Johnson of Sheffield, England, Dr. Edgar Johnson and sister-in-law, Dr. Carol Johnson of Bloomfield, CT, Clarence Johnson of Bloomfield, CT; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, fellow believers, and friends.
