Josephine Slaughter

SLAUGHTER, Ms. Josephine, born February 9, 1944 in Clarke County, Whatley, AL, passed away March 17, 2017. She was known to her grandchildren as “MA’AM and NAUNNIE”. She gave her life to Christ and joined Mt. Enon Baptist Church at an early age. She was well loved, had many friends, and always remained cheerful and optimistic throughout her life. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Willie Lee (Rodgers) Burroughs; brother, Wilmer Burroughs; sisters, Joanne Tucker, Virginia Burroughs; half-sisters, Nannie Lee Evans, Juanita Autry. Survived by devoted children and daughter-in-law, Randall V. Sr. and Emilia Slaughter of Houston, TX, Ronda Slaughter of Dayton; 7 sisters, 2 brothers, 7 grandchildren; beloved and faithful dog, “Sparkle”; a host of devoted relatives and friends. Funeral service 11 am Friday, March 24, 2017 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church, 1501 W. Third St. Pastor Cory J. Pruitt, eulogist. Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. Final disposition cremation. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave.
