Donald Ellis Dix

DIX, Donald Ellis “Don”, 62, of Dayton, departed this life Thursday, May 18, 2017.  Don was born December 24, 1954 in Troy, Alabama to the late Herman Dix and Mattie Jones.  Don graduated from Cabrini Alternative High School in Chicago, IL in 1972 and spent five years in the United States Naval Reserve before amassing forty years of experience in the medical field.  At the time of his death, Don had been an employee at the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Hospital in Dayton, Ohio for over twenty-five years. Don will forever be known for his gentle spirit, easy going demeanor, sense of humor, and love of his family and friends.  The family intends to honor Don in Chicago, Illinois at a later date. Don is survived by his wife of 33 years, Michele Dix; three children, Dewayne Warren, Eric (Dayla) Simon, Danielle Dix; four brothers, Anthony, Arthur (Doris), Gregory (Debbie) and Timothy (Irene) Dix; ten grandchildren, Dewayne Jr., DaQuana, Damani, Kayden, Nequila, Damien, Damante, RaShaun, Kendall, and Cameron; one great grandchild, Kassidy; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Memorial service will be held 1 pm Friday, May 26, 2017 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Calling hour 12 noon at which time family will receive friends.
