Dolores J. Rhoden

RHODEN, Dolores Jean was born October 12, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio to loving parents, the late Charles and Virginia Thompson Childs. She was raised in the Catholic Church. Dolores is a graduate of Central State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, Dolores served as clerk in the Prosecutor’s Office for General District Court in Dayton, Ohio. She later pursued a career in education, as a teacher for the Dayton Board of Education, culminating in over 40 years of service. Dolores was formerly married to Roscoe Rhoden of Birmingham, AL. They have five children, who were born and raised in Dayton.

Preceded in death by her brother, Charles Childs. She leaves five children: Rhonda Taylor of Vandalia, OH, Brenda Berry of Stafford, VA, Dwight Rhoden of Brooklyn, NY, Sherri Harris-Williams of Dumfries, VA, and Terri Rhoden of Dayton; eight grandchildren, Erin Taylor, Ronald Berry, Alexander Berry, Aliyah Harris, J’Lynn Frank, Austin Harris, Tiara Williams and Darius Williams; great grandsons, Landyn Lawson and Nicholas Cheeks; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends to cherish her memory.

Funeral service will be held 1 pm Monday, November 20, 2017 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Minister Raleigh Thornton Jr. officiating. Visitation 10 am Monday at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Willow View Cemetery.
