Bushnell Elmer Dyer

April 4, 1930 ~ September 28, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

DYER, Bushnell Elmer, age 87, departed this life Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Grandview Hospital, after a long battle with brain cancer. He was educated in the Chillicothe Public School System. Upon completion of his high school education, he enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served from September 1951 to June 1953. Bushnell moved to Dayton after he returned from military duty and was employed for a short period of time at the Defense Electronic Supply Center. He then went into construction until he began working at Chrysler Air Temp where he retired in 1992 after more than 30 years of service.

It was while in Dayton that he met and married his wife of more than 54 years, Roselle E. Moore. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved all sports and participated in swimming, tennis, football, basketball and baseball. He instilled his love for sports to his children. He also loved travelling and listening to jazz. He shared his love for travelling with family and friends and often planned and organized detailed travel and event itineraries for family and friends. He was often referred to as the ultimate “tour guide”.

Bushnell is preceded in death by his loving parents, Elmer and Corrine Dyer; brother, Richard Dyer; sisters, Georgianna and Virginia Dyer. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Roselle E. Dyer; sons, Anthony Burbage, Fort Worth, TX, Bushnell E. Jr. (Carole) Dyer, Dayton, and Devlin H. (Linda) Dyer, Charlotte, NC; daughter, Viola M. Jones, Dayton; brothers, James (Glenna) Dyer, Chillicothe, OH, David Dyer, Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Mary Jane Jones, Chillicothe, OH, Beatrice Garrison; grandchildren, Danett, Tyrell and Sania Dyer, Tonita and Antwaine Burbage, Tiana and Jason Jones; great grandchildren, Dreana Ford, Autumn Jones, London Morris, KeAna Tatum, Brynn Leonard, Caleb and Cole Burbage; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held 12 noon Friday, October 6, 2017 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3211 Lakeview Ave. Visitation 10 am until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment Dayton National Cemetery.
