Berdell Gray

GRAY, Berdell, 81, of Dayton, born February 28, 1936 in Bellaire, OH, walked through the doors of Heaven May 8, 2017 at her place of residence. She accepted Christ in the latter years of her life, where her life began to be lifted to another level. No matter whom you were or where you came from Berdell loved everyone and had compassion for people. Berdell graduated from Bellaire High School and furthered her education at Sinclair Community College where she completed her AA degree in Liberal Arts. She worked at White Tower and Nickley’s IGA for many years. Berdell enjoyed traveling quite a bit, she had no problem picking up and going, some of her travels include New York, New Jersey, and Canada, just to name a few. She enjoyed her books, crossword puzzles, painting and drawing. Preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Addie Gray, seven brothers, four sisters, and one grandson. She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Craig Fields (Bridgeport, OH), Thomas (Kathy) Gray (Cincinnati, OH); sisters, Bessie Washington (Dayton), Emma Lou Irving (Wheeling, WV); grandchildren, Richard Taylor (Valdosta, GA), James L. Searl II (Virginia Beach, VA), Yasmine A. Gray (Brooklyn, NY),  Dallas Fields (Bridgeport, OH), Christopher L. Searl (San Diego, CA), Michealia A. Searl (Cincinnati, OH) and Melina A. Gray (Woodbridge, VA); five great grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral service will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Rev. David H. Jones Sr., Pastor, The Way of the Cross Gospel Ministries, officiating. Visitation 11 am Saturday at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
