Alberta Bynum

BYNUM, Alberta “Bert”, 96, of Dayton, born April 13, 1921 in Columbia, SC to the late Josh and Willie Belle Sumpter, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018. She retired from Good Samaritan Hospital after 10 years of service. As a military wife, she enjoyed working part-time, taking care of her family, gardening, and serving her church as a Sunday school teacher. After her husband retired from Wright-Patterson AFB, she became a member of 50 years at Shiloh Baptist Church, and served many years as President of the Vina Beatty Circle. Preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Lonnie Bynum Sr.; son, Gary Bynum; grandson, Anthony Bynum; three sisters. She is survived by her children, Patricia Daugherty and Lonnie Bynum Jr., both of Dayton, Rozwill Bynum of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Wm. “David” Daugherty Jr. (Brandi) of Dayton, Darrell Daugherty (Jennifer) of Wichita, KS, and Cheryl Ann Bynum of Los Angeles, CA; six great grandchildren; friend, Mary Black; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, March 26, 2018 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 3801 Fairbanks Ave. Rev. Dr. Marcettes L. Cunningham officiating. Visitation 9-11 am. Family will receive friends 10-11 am. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc.
